Little Ruminations on Beauty

About

Hobby (Or what made me smile today…)

Dear Dyet.

I have one hobby that is actually closer to a ritual: doing the New York Times Daily Crossword puzzle. I remember my Dad doing crosswords when I was a kid, and now I do one every day while drinking my tea and contemplating the day ahead or the day behind..

Of course, successfully completing the puzzle is an achievement by itself, but that is not my favorite part of the ritual. What I look forward to each time is either learning about something new or being reminded of something that brought me joy in the past.

I just finished the Saturday puzzle, and one clue/answer combo led me back to a poem that I had not read in quite a long while.

“Still I Rise” – Maya Angelou

This.
This right here is one of the things that gave me joy today.
This and the sound of your voice.
